The Book of Luke

We have chosen to read through the book of Luke in the New Testament of the Bible. I thought it would be interesting to extend an invitation out to everyone to read the same book of the Bible together and we can have an on going dialouge/conversation about it.

There are four weeks left in our trip, which will be perfect for dividing the book up by reading one chapter a day. This week we will read Luke chapters 1-7.

I do not expect to prepare a sermon for people to comment on. Nor do I have any expectations for this. I will simply start a blog at the beginning of each week (more or less depending on if I have access to a computer), I might add a little something, but the idea would be for each of you who are interested in reading with us to add comments.

Comments may be observations, questions, answers to someones question or something you belive God is teaching you.

Comments are also easy! Just click on the comment tab and follow the prompts. You may write it annonomously, sign your name or create a profile.

I will also "Lable" the four posts as "The Gospel of Luke." For future references all you would need to do is click on the lable to have easy acces to the previous posts/comments.

I encourage anyone and all of you to join us in this. This has the potential to be a very real and rich experiance. If you do not have a Bible you can easily get access to one by searching for it on the internet with a search engine.

Nothing But Love,

So, I have been reading and I have thoughts about what I am reading. My main intrests have been what does Jesus refer to when he says the ¨Kingdom of God?¨

Luke 1:33, an angle says to Mary that the baby she will have will have a kingdom that will never end.

In chapter 4, verses 5-7 Satan shows and temps Jesus by offering him all of the kingdoms of the world that has been given to him if Jesus will worship Satan. So, Satan has a lot of authority and reign over things, but what still is the kingdom of God because it is differnt than the kingdoms that Satan has?

Luke 4:43: Jesus says he must preach the good news of the kingdom of God because that is why he was sent.

Luke 6: 20-26 says that blessed are those that are poor (who have chosen to live a life to not satisfy thier needs but to meets the needs of others) for thiers is the kingdom of God.

Luke 7:28 the one that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than one who is greatest in this time/kingdom.

Conclusion: Satan has a lot of authority and power/control but Jesus refuses any/all of it and says that he came to preach this ¨good news¨(or the ¨gospel¨)of the kingdom of God whom the angle said would never end. He seems to say that the kingdom of God is for those that are not self focused or concerned to gain for themselves and lives a life like the prophets of old with an eternal purpose(ch 6:20-26)rather than to live for the now and the gain you could posess.

Hmm... stay tuned for more next week.
